The Rarest Gem by TrollGirl The Rarest Gem by TrollGirl
Dragons generally hoard treasure out of pure magpie instinct, but Spike had a better reason. They were all means to an end, the end being acquiring the one treasure he ever really wanted, throughout the years of being held as a servant and plaything in Ponyville, where his growth and natural instincts were suppressed by magic. When he finally managed to break the bewitched bonds, he had but one goal left.
And Rarity? She was nothing if not pragmatic, and having access to the vastest treasury in the land more than made up for certain draconic embarrassments at high-society events.

A little dark and evil, lol.. been meaning to paint this for a long time now.
Rarity is one of the ponies i like less, but nobody can say i discriminate :P

I really like how for the first time this picture is cold and then you just notice their tails together, and Spike eyes... It's magical piece! May I ask what brand of watercolors you use? I always wanted to try out this technique, but I always thought it's too hard... Do you think watercolor colored pencils would be good for starting or maybe it's better to start with paint? And do you use anything else than watercolors on your pictures? C:

 These are the watercolors:

And it is a difficult medium. Unless you're some really talented bastard, you will need several years.
Colored pencils are nice, in my opinion not related to watercolor in any manner [ why are they lying with that name, i dont know], but arent my cup of tea so idk.
I use all kinds of stuff for accents. Markers and gouache and inks, oh my!

Ok, thank you!
I already painted, but with oil and acrylics and I didn't like it, since the colors don't... Blend enough I guess. So watercolors can be something for me C: And I understand it takes years, like every technique, to perfect it, but after all the result is worth practicing!
I have got some colored watercolor pencils and I never really paid attention to them. They're just laying around somewhere, that's why I asked.

This is a very beautiful picture! It is so detailed!! It's really amazing! :) (Smile) :) (Smile)  You said it is in watercolor? Is it hard to paint in that medium? I've never tried, but I want to check it out! :)

Why yes, i did say it's watercolor, my descriptions don't usually lie.
Compared to other mediums, people claim it's pretty hard. Good luck with the 'checking it out'.
